What's DMRS ?

DMRS stands for Directed Mutagenesis & Restriction Site
It is a software written in Python. It helps you perform directed mutagenesis of DNA sequence. It gives you solutions for inserting a mutation and a restriction site at the same time in your sequence. The restriction site will be useful to test for the presence of the mutagenesis without sequencing

Why is it called Online Version of DMRS ?

Initially DMRS was created as a Desktop software
This Online version give you the possibility to use the Power of DMRS without the need to download it. DMRS Online runs on a small personnal server. Each time you use it, the server runs to give you your results. Since this is a small config, it can take several minutes to return your results (depending on your sequence).

Who's behind DMRS ?

My name is Nathan Dilda, I am an Engineer in Biotechnology currently working for a specialised in Plasma-derived therapies. I created DMRS in 2015 during my studies at the ESBS (École Supérieure de Biotechnologie de Strasbourg). I created this online version during the Lock-down of 2020.

How to use it ?

It's pretty simple, follow this process:

  • Type your DNA Sequence
  • Press Translate DNA Sequence
  • Select the Amino Acid to be mutated (the corresponding codon will turn Blue)
  • Select the Amino Acid to be inserted
  • Choose the execution Mode (Fast mode is 3x faster but less precise)
  • If needed select the Restriction Enzymes available at your lab (The calculation will be faster but it will ignore other Enzymes)
  • Choose whether you want the results to be saved in our Database to retrieve them later
  • Press Start Mutation
  • The page will load your results as soon as they're ready !
  • If you chose to save your results, you'll get a six-character code needed to retrieve them later.
